Highlights of the first Festival were the BBC broadcast of the modern premiere of JB Cramer’s version of Mozart’s C major Piano Concerto, and the Trevor Hold Memorial Concert (now recorded for Dutton); highlights of the second Festival were the world premiere of Robert Walker’s Second String Quartet and the first performance of our Elgar programme A Hawk Dreaming Poetry. Educational work has involved hundreds of children playing early pianos and singing The Daniel Jazz and the modern premieres of newly-discovered medieval songs (‘glorious programming… performed with such pizzazz that it brought the roof down.’ Church Times)
